Terms and Conditions

We are excited to welcome you to our cooking classes and to share a great experience together. To prevent any trouble and ensure your satisfaction with our programs, please read this User Policy carefully before applying for any of our classes. By making a reservation, you are deemed to have agreed to this User Policy.

1. Application Requirements

  • You must be at least 16 years old to make a reservation.

  • If you are younger than 16, a guardian must make the reservation for you and accompany you to the class.

  • Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and minors must be supervised at all times.

  • Samurai Cook reserves the right to restrict certain courses or events to specific target audiences.

  • Unless you book a private class, you may be teamed up with other participants for part or all of the class.

2. Attending the Classes

2.1 Precautions When Using the Facilities

  • Children cannot be brought to class unless they can be sufficiently supervised by a guardian.

  • Pets are not allowed.

  • We do not have a parking space. If you come by car, please use nearby paid parking facilities.

  • You are responsible for the safekeeping of your belongings, including any valuables you bring to the class. Samurai Cook cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, or theft.

  • Samurai Cook is a fully non‑smoking environment inside the facility. A smoking area is available outside.

2.2 Precautions for Customers and During the Classes

  • Only persons who have signed up for the class may attend. Free lesson observation is not permitted. The right to attend classes cannot be transferred to another person without our explicit permission.

  • Please be in the classroom 10 minutes before the starting time. If you will be late, please let us know. You may be unable to participate in the class if you are more than 30 minutes late.

  • Alcohol cannot be served to those under the legal drinking age or to those who will be driving. We reserve the right to decline to serve alcohol at our discretion.

  • Please wear an apron during class and remove it when going to the restroom.

  • If you have long hair, please tie it back.

  • Please remove personal effects such as rings, watches, and bracelets.

  • For sanitary reasons, please wear the provided gloves if you have long or manicured nails, or cuts or injuries on your hands.

  • Those attending the class are free to take photos as long as this does not interfere with the class. Video recording is not permitted without explicit permission.

  • For sanitary reasons, food prepared in the class cannot be taken out.

  • Only those who have participated in and paid for the class may partake of the prepared meals.

  • Please refrain from talking on your cell phone in the classroom.

  • Customers are prohibited from bringing their own food or beverages to the class. Some exceptions may apply; please see our FAQ page for details.

  • Customers are prohibited from soliciting other customers to join any business, religion, organization, etc.

2.3 Other

  • Those who are not able to abide by this User Policy, cause trouble for others, or significantly hinder the progress of the class will be asked to leave.

  • Please be aware that those attending the Japanese cooking class may be interviewed or filmed by media, and advance notice may not always be possible.

  • Any photography or filming will be conducted in a way that does not hinder the class. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform us in advance. Please be aware that Samurai Cook may post such photos, videos, and articles on our website and in other media.

3. Liability Clause

  • The class may be immediately cancelled in the event of unforeseeable emergencies.

4. Course Details

  • Classes are conducted in English. At our discretion, we may teach in other languages depending on the situation.

  • If it is difficult to obtain certain ingredients due to factors such as inclement weather in the producing region or changes in availability, we may, at our discretion, use substitute ingredients or change the course without advance notice.

  • If you are diagnosed with an infectious disease or have a similar condition, please cancel your class regardless of the severity of your condition. If you notice symptoms of such a disease, please promptly inform a Samurai Cook staff member. Infectious diseases include measles, chicken pox, mumps, influenza, swimming pool fever, COVID, etc.

  • The following hospitals will be used in the event of an emergency at the store location (for staff, customers, etc.). A different hospital may be used if these are closed or house calls are not possible:

5. Those With Food Allergies

  • We will do our utmost to accommodate requests for dietary restrictions, and ask that you be as specific as possible when explaining your situation. We are experienced in handling vegan, vegetarian, gluten‑free, and halal‑friendly classes.

  • Please contact us in advance about any food allergies. Depending on the allergy, we may be unable to find appropriate substitutions and may not be able to accommodate you.

  • We cannot be held liable for any repercussions resulting from food consumed in class. We will do our best to accommodate all requests within the scope of our ability, but the ultimate responsibility rests with you.

6. Handling of Recipes

  • Customers are prohibited from copying or reproducing recipes used in the classroom on their website, blog, social media, etc., without explicit permission from Samurai Cook. Unauthorized reproduction may constitute a violation of copyright laws.

7. Cancellation Policy

  • We are fully aware that unexpected inconveniences can arise at the last minute.

  • If you notify us at least 2 weeks (14 days) in advance in Japan time, your booking will be cancelled without any charge.

  • If you have to cancel the class, 50% of the class fee will be charged for cancellations made 13 to 7 days prior to the class.

  • For cancellations made after that period (6 days before or later), the class fee is 100% non‑refundable.

  • Cancellations are accepted only by email or phone during business hours (Mon–Sat, 9:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.).

  • Your booking will be cancelled if you are more than 15 minutes late.

  • Failure to arrive at our shop will be treated as a no‑show and no refund will be given, including cases where you have mistaken the date.

  • If you cancel due to snowfall, train delays, or other reasons, unless Samurai Cook notifies you of a change in class date or cancellation, your cancellation will be treated as being at your own convenience.

  • We anticipate that there may be severe disruptions in public transportation in bad weather. If you miss your flight or train due to delays in public transportation such as trains and buses, you may be charged a cancellation fee, so please arrive at the meeting place (airport, train station, etc.) well in advance.

7.1 Cancellations or Changes by Samurai Cook

  • Except in the case of sudden illness of the instructor or other unavoidable circumstances, we will, in principle, notify you by email or phone at least one day before the class if it is cancelled due to natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, heavy snowfall, transportation disruptions caused by such disasters, or other circumstances beyond our control.

  • In the event of an infrastructure malfunction due to such disasters, please check our website for any announcements. In these cases, the participation fee will be refunded in full.

  • If you come to our shop or meeting place despite our decision to cancel the class, we will not compensate you for any transportation or accommodation costs.

  • If public transportation to the departure point is cancelled or suspended due to natural disasters such as earthquakes, heavy snowfall, or typhoons, and you are unable to arrive at the departure point before the meeting time, no cancellation fee will be charged, provided that Samurai Cook can confirm the suspension.

  • Cooking classes using airplanes, trains, or taxis may be cancelled or rescheduled on the day depending on transportation conditions.

  • If the class is cancelled, the class fee will be refunded at a later date.

  • If the tour is cancelled because the customer decides not to assemble, the prescribed cancellation fee will be charged.

7.2 Change of Class Dates and Times

  • Except in the case of sudden illness of the instructor or other unavoidable circumstances, if we need to change the date or time of the class, the person in charge will contact you by email or phone at least one business day before the class, in principle.

  • At that time, we will confirm your participation or non‑participation. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class, your participation fee will be refunded in full.

7.3 Refund Method

  • In most cases, we will refund the registration fee to the credit card used for payment, or to the account specified by you if you applied by bank transfer.

  • We cannot guarantee the exact date of receipt of the refund due to the circumstances of financial institutions, but the class fee will generally be refunded at a later date, approximately within 7 days.

8. Handling of Personal Information

  • The following explains how your personal information will be handled when you attend Samurai Cook classes.

  • Please inform us if there are any changes to the information you provided (name, address, contact information, etc.). If you do not contact us when your information changes, Samurai Cook cannot be held responsible if we are unable to contact you about announcements that may affect the service.

  • We cannot provide the names or contact information of other customers in any Samurai Cook class.

  • Customers are free to exchange contact details with each other, but Samurai Cook is not responsible for any consequences arising from such exchanges.

  • We may send pamphlets or information about upcoming classes. Please let us know if you do not wish to receive such information.

9. Changes to the User Policy

  • This User Policy may be changed as needed. Any changes will be promptly updated on the Samurai Cook website (https://samuraicook.com).
